Capacity Building for Coalition Members on the Effective Use of Social Media to Report GBV Cases and Delivery Messages

On September 24 and 25, 2024, Mimutie Women Organization hosted a transformative two day training for Coalition Members in the picturesque Arusha region, bringing together enthusiastic participants from CAIC Tanzania.

Participants engaged in discussions about strategies for coalition growth, shared experiences from the past year, and collaborated on combating GBV, fostering a strong sense of community.

The overall goal was to empower coalition members in effectively using social media for advocacy and reporting, complemented by specific objectives that included training on digital platforms, ensuring safety in online activities, and fostering advocacy while celebrating the coalition’s one-year anniversary.

The training highlighted the importance of creating a supportive environment, as many participants expressed hesitance in reporting incidents due to safety concerns.

To address these fears, the coalition recommended providing safety devices like computers equipped with the TOR browser and a comprehensive digital safety toolkit.

This training aimed to establish a safer reporting environment and encourage individuals to report incidents without fear of exposure.

Practical sessions allowed participants to practice online safety techniques and adjust privacy settings for confidential communication.

The training celebrated the coalition’s anniversary with shared cake and refreshments, reinforcing camaraderie among members.

Throughout the training, participants learned to craft impactful advocacy messages and discussed strategies to raise awareness about GBV through digital platforms, ultimately demonstrating their skills in a collaborative environment.

Mimutie Women Organization remains committed to ongoing capacity building efforts, equipping CAIC members with essential knowledge and skills for effective GBV reporting and encouragement a supportive atmosphere in their communities.
